Sailing Events newsletter
This year has been very busy and has included some very interesting charters.
One of the highlights was a trip to the Festival of the Sea in Brest . This was a wonderful event. The Rade de Brest lends itself magnificently to staging this sort of event, if only because of it's size. This enabled us to witness huge square riggers sailing at very close quarters – sometimes a bit too close.
We were away for a week and were able to combine seeing the 450 plus boats involved in the Festival, with a mini cruise of NW Brittany. We were very impressed with the new Marina in L'Aberwrach. Well worth checking out.
The Round the Island Race in June was a particularly good event this year. At around 25 knots, the wind gave us some exciting sailing. I'm pleased to say that despite some close quarters sailing, we managed to avoid this becoming a “contact sport”.
Cowes week was as busy and exciting as ever. The sight of the Extreme Forties racing makes for a thrilling experience. And we were fortunate in only having one partially wet day. Someone must have been smiling on us.
Now we've arrived at one of the best times for sailing. I'm sure we'll have some good weather this Autumn, as we normally do. The Marinas are far less crowded, and the Solent is our sheltered playground. Ideal for a weekend away. Check out our Low season specials. Click here for details.
We're also running shorebased courses this winter, both intensive and evening classes, more details here.
